Artist Spotlight - Mary Singleton

Claire Elizabeth Gallery is pleased to spotlight New Orleans-based artist Mary Singleton. Singleton received a BFA from Louisiana State University and has exhibited her work throughout the country. In the artist’s own words:

Ideally my work seeks to create a conversation about the nature of man and his surroundings working with sub-tropically inspired, sometimes abstracted, botanicals as a unifying familiar symbol. My work incorporates contour drawing, highlights negative space and includes more realized shapes that represent plants native to New Orleans. I like to experiment with the concepts of nature and playfulness and curiosity through the use of contrasting colors, and organic shapes.

Singleton’s work is included in a number of private and public collections including Our Lady of the Lake Hospital (Baton Rouge), Children’s Hospital (New Orleans), Ochsner Hospital (locations throughout Louisiana) and Brechtel Hospitality/Copper Vine (New Orleans).
