Artist spotlight - kellie Lawler
Claire Elizabeth Gallery is pleased to spotlight artist Kellie Lawler. Lawler is an Alabama based artist who works primarily in acrylic and ink. Combining intrigue with the freedom of a continuous line technique, she creates graphic perspectives of human figures, nature, and other subjects. In creating a subject in one line, without constraints of proportion or perfection, each composition unfurls uniquely in both the viewer's and the artist's eyes.
In her own words:
I want my art to have a story for someone, which may not be the same story I had when I created it. I want it to be personal, which is not always perfection. I think that’s why I like to incorporate a use of the continuous line technique. I am an over thinker, and it allows a freedom to get my thoughts out without over thinking or overdoing. Creating dimension and form with color and negative space.
Lawler graduated from Brown University. She has exhibited her work throughout the country and currently maintains a studio in downtown Anniston, Alabama where she balances her career as a full-time artist and Mother of four.
